First Blog

I have wanted to be in the medical field since I can remember being able to talk as a young child.  Of course, growing up I wanted to be a doctor, and I believe through hard work that is still possible.  I am a very caring person and have always helped people where and when I can.  I believe this quality will be vital to being a successful nurse in any field.  Having great nurses the many times I have been in the hospital in my life also helped confirm that I want to work in the medical field.
It has never been a question what area of medicine I want to work in, which is pediatrics.  I love children and was a nanny for many years.  This furthered my love for children.  After finishing the RN program, I would like to further my education.  I plan on obtaining my Nurse Practitioner License and continue working with children.  I do think I would be great in many areas, but children are my passion.
A nurse is a health-care professional that tends to the needs of patients.  A nurse also administers medicines, makes beds, baths and feeds patients, as well as many other duties.  This job is necessary to help make a patient and their family as comfortable as possible during a stressful time.  It also requires taking preventative measures to make sure no further injuries or illnesses happen to a patient.  A nurse is a caregiver to a patient in need.
